Gig Finder Local Calendar

A private desktop integration that lets the owner’s locally installed Gig Finder workspace check a selected Google Calendar while keeping the local calendar ledger as the booking record.

What this integration does

Gig Finder is an owner-operated local workspace, not a public calendar or appointment service. After the owner explicitly starts the desktop authorization flow, the software verifies the selected Google account and calendar, reads calendar information needed for availability, and stores its local working records on the owner’s machine.

The local Gig Finder calendar ledger remains the canonical record for local holds and bookings. Google Calendar data is kept as a separate provider observation so an imported event does not overwrite a local record.

Google permissions requested by the desktop app

openid and email
Used to verify that the Google account returned by authorization is the account the owner selected for this local connection.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.calendarlist.readonly
Used to find the selected calendar and confirm that the authorized account has the required calendar access role.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events
Used for selected-calendar event reads. It is also the permission needed for a separately reviewed, per-event convenience projection of a local hold. Normal scheduled reads do not create or change Google events.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.freebusy
Part of the approved permission set for availability support. The current read-sync uses the selected calendar’s event list; it is not a public calendar-sharing feature.

How calendar changes are handled

The normal local runtime reads Google Calendar; it does not automatically send invitations, add attendees, create conferencing links, or publish a calendar event. A Google event projection is a separate local action that requires an already reviewed local preview, the matching approval reference, and a matching local version. When that narrow action is released, the supported payload contains only a title, start time, end time, and disabled default reminders, and is sent with Google’s sendUpdates=none setting.

Calendar information can be stale, unavailable, or require review. Availability in Gig Finder is an aid to the owner’s decision-making rather than a public booking guarantee.

Authorization happens on the owner’s device

The desktop flow opens the system browser only when the owner starts it. It uses a local loopback callback for the authorization response. These pages do not accept OAuth credentials, calendar data, booking requests, or account sign-ups.
